    Responsibilities

    The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is the principal advisor to the Under Secretary and Director on the application of information technology (IT) to support and improve the Agency’s business processes. The Office of Infrastructure Engineering and Operations (IEO) provides day-to-day operational support for USPTO-developed applications.  The Enterprise Software Services Division (ESSD) manages the USPTO Enterprise Applications and provides Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS).The Software Services Branch (SSB) provides technical services for enterprise applications that reside above the OS level, including mission critical systems, such as Active Directory, Exchange Email, Sharepoint, Lync, RightFax, Facility Management Tools and Anti-Virus.This position serves as a technical specialist, providing software services, such as Active Directory and Exchange for both Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) and Automated Information Systems (AIS) software across the USPTO Enterprise.

      
     This position will be responsible for…

    • Serving as a technical specialist in application support of Distributed Micro-Cloud and Cloud services, Active Directory, and Exchange for both Commercial Off-the –Shelf (COTS).

    • Collaborating with Systems Engineering Team Leads to support/enable development and world-wide deployment of the mission network.

    • Providing software support to COTS and opened source products in support of the agency developed systems.
    • Evaluating vendor, contractor and/or employee developed software to ensure all requirements are in line with the agency Enterprise Software Services Division Cloud Services Standard.
    • Performing extensive independent research to evaluate new products, software, and architectural methods within a customized laboratory environment.
