    Summary

    This position is located in the CORE SYSTEMS SERVICE LINE organization, Platforms Support, Infrastructure Operations (IO), Office of Information and Technology (OI&T). The incumbent serves as a Information Technology (IT) Analyst with a full range of duties associated with one or more IT specialty areas required to support: STORAGE MANAGEMENT, PLATFORMS & OPERATING SYSTEMS, BACK OFFICE SYSTEMS, AND CLIENT TECHNOLOGIES.

    Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary, but may involve intermediate periods of walking, bending, stooping, lifting, carrying, moving (up to 50 pounds) computer components and supplies, reaching, pulling, and working at a keyboard and monitor. Subject to call back outside tour of duty.


    This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-12. At the GS-11 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-12. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher level work, and availability of funds. Promotion is not guaranteed and no promise of promotion is implied.

    Major Duties:
    • Diagnoses and resolves customer reported system incidents, problems, and events.
    • Makes recommendations based on trend analysis for enhancements to software and hardware solutions to enhance customer experience.
    • Integrates automated capabilities for updating or patching system software where practical and develop processes and procedures for manual updating and patching of system software based on current and projected patch timeline requirements for the operational environment of the system.
    • Performs security reviews, identify gaps in security architecture, and develop a security risk management plan.
    • Properly documents all systems security implementation, operations, and maintenance activities and update as necessary.
