    This position is located in Smithsonian Institution, Office of Protection Services. The employee provides oversight in the developing, planning, coordinating and implementing of the comprehensive occupational safety program.

    Responsibilities

    As the Safety and Occupational Health Manager, the incumbent will perform the following duties and other assigned duties:

    • Serves as a technical expert in safety and occupational health, providing technical information and support for the planning, implementation, administration, and audit/evaluation of the Smithsonian's safety and health program.
    • Participates in the development, implementation and management of Smithsonian-wide training programs using various delivery systems including web-based training.
    • Serves as safety liaison for assigned museums/research centers/leased or owned facilities/programs, providing technical advice, support, and assistance to Safety Coordinators at these locations.
    • Prepares reports from the automated safety and health data base to track trends, conduct analyses, and determine needed improvements to the safety and health program.
