This position is located in the US Department of the Interior (DOI), Office of the Assistant Secretary - Indian Affairs (AS-IA), Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary-Management (DAS-M). This position is physically located in Albuquerque, NM.
This announcement is open under the Government-wide Direct Hire Appointing (DHA) Authority for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) positions as announced by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) on October 11, 2018.
Serve as key member of the Division of Information Security with primary responsibilities for providing internal and external assistance on the security and compliance considerations for Information System design, procurement, development, integration, implementation, operation, maintenance, and disposal activities.
Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to assist system owners in the development of the final security plan and other authorization documents.
Coordinate, implement, and enforce IT security policies, procedures, standards and guidance consistent with Federal requirements.
Establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with enterprise-wide stakeholders of systems/networks/IT assets.
Investigate incidents as part of the Cybersecurity Incident Response Team (CIRT).
Provide guidance to system administrators in solving technical and administrative questions generated from the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process and documentation.
Perform pre-assessment, assessment, and post-assessment support activities to ensure an adequate level of security is reached at the control level.
Plan work to be accomplished and establish priorities and deadlines for employees based on workload and abilities. Provide advice and counsel to employees.
Exercise significant responsibilities engaging with leadership across the Division, Office, Bureau, and Department.
Travel Required
25% or less - You may be expected to travel for this position no more than 1-5 nights per month.

Qualifications
Basic Requirement: You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies: 1) Attention to Detail -thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail; 2) Customer Service - worked with IT internal and external customers assessing their needs, and resolving their problems; 3) Oral Communication - making clear and convincing oral presentations; listening to others, and responding appropriately; 4) Problem Solving - analyzing IT complex problems; determining accuracy and relevance of information; utilizing sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
AND
Specialized Experience: Have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 or equivalent, which includes at the minimum: preparing and delivering cybersecurity-related briefings to senior management, peers, and staff; assessing and remediating security and privacy controls in accordance with applicable National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publications; implementing the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process or parts of the RMF; identifying system vulnerabilities; and recommending security control implementation strategies to customers.
CTAP/ICTAP must exceed minimum qualifications.
A Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or similar certification is highly desirable.
