The Division of Commissioned Personnel Support (DCPS) is responsible for developing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating a broad range of comprehensive programs designed to ensure that United States Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Officers (Commissioned Corps) assigned to the Indian Health Service (IHS) are properly recruited, retained, motivated, and developed to support the achievement of the IHS mission and IHS program goals and objectives. The Director, DCPS, is responsible for the administration of the Commissioned Corps program for officers assigned to Federal, Tribal, and Urban facilities throughout the IHS. The Director serves as the senior liaison and nationally recognized expert on Commissioned Corps personnel matters and provides guidance and assistance on all aspects of the Commissioned Corps program to IHS senior leadership. The Director oversees the evaluation and implementation of USPHS Commissioned Corps policies, instructions, and guidance at national and local levels to ensure they are designed to achieve their intended purpose, are properly implemented, and are facilitating the achievement of the IHS mission and goals. The Director supervises DCPS staff located at IHS Headquarters and the five Regional offices.
