    This position is located in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD (R&E)) and assigned to the Director, Developmental Test, Evaluation, and Assessments (DDTE&A). The USD(R&E) serves as the Chief Technology Officer and is responsible for research, development, and prototyping activities within the DoD. The DTE&A Chief Engineer is the principle technical advisor to the Director for all systems engineering and DT&E matters, including cybersecurity.

    Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following:

    • Leads organizational efforts in the development and sustainment of initiatives, lines of effort, and priorities contributing to the DTE&A strategic framework; ensures quality and consistency of DTE&A internal processes.
    • Provides experienced engineering, test & evaluation (including cybersecurity), and management oversight of programs on the DTE&A DT Oversight List.
    • Organizes and directs the priorities of assigned SETA staff and FFRDC/UARC support experts in accomplishing the DTE&A mission.
    • Oversees planning and execution of technical assessments to inform critical acquisition decisions; establishes procedures to ensure technical quality and consistency in analysis and evaluation.
    • Supports the development and review of SE and DT&E planning efforts. Reviews and assesses program progress towards achieving planned schedule, performance, and fielding goals.
