This position is located in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, Office of Policy Planning and Coordination (WHA/PPC) where the incumbent serves as subject matter expert and action officer on the Department of State's diplomatic efforts related to race, ethnicity, and social inclusion in the Western Hemisphere through coordination of initiatives to promote racial and ethnic equality.Learn more about this agency
- Assembles and coordinates coherent, comprehensive strategies, positions, and responses that accurately take into account race, ethnicity, and social inclusion issues.
- Coordinates engagement of and input to address race, ethnicity, human rights, and gender issues as a core part of the Department's social inclusion policy in the Western Hemisphere region.
- Represents the office and the bureau at interagency conferences and in consultations with officials of international organizations and foreign governments.
- Provides policy guidance and recommendations on race, diversity, social inclusion, gender and human rights with regard to the Department’s work on Hemispheric economic and security initiatives to the WHA Front Office through the PPC Director.
Occasional travel - Occasional domestic and overseas travel may be required.
