The incumbent of this position serves as a Program Specialist for the National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI). The primary purpose of this position is to provide budgetary, financial, contracting and administrative support in the areas of budget and finance.

Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation. Applicants who have the 1 year of appropriate specialized experience, are not required to have general experience, education above the high school level, or any additional specialized experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements.
For this position, applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-07, in the Federal Service or equivalent.
For this position, specialized experience is defined as: verifying budget & fund availability; reconciling internal financial ledgers to accounting system records; applying laws, regulations & procedures to federal procurement; assisting with the management of funds using automated financial & budgetary systems & databases; preparing financial reports; & monitoring expenses & systems of records.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid work on the same basis as for paid experience. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. To receive credit for such experience you must indicate clearly the nature of the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the average number of hours per week spent in such employment on your online resume.
Note: Your specialized experience must have been in a position(s) equivalent to duties for the occupation at the next lower grade level for the position being filled as defined by applicable Federal standards.
The following education can be used as a substitute for specialized experience for this position:
master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D., if related
Graduate Education: Education at the graduate level in an accredited college or university in the amounts shown meets the requirements for this positions. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study.
Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.
