    Summary

    The Pharmacy Service is recruiting one (1) Lead MHCPS located in RMR, Aurora CO. Their role is to provide support and oversight as a working pharmacist. This position will assist, direct, and coordinate the daily workflow and operations including scheduling. The lead MHCPS functions at the highest level of clinical practice, works independently under their individual scope of practice to directly care for patients.

    Responsibilities

    1. Ability to communicate orally and in writing to persuade and influence clinical and management decisions.
    2. Expert understanding of regulatory and quality standards for their program area.
    3. Ability to solve problems, coordinate and organize responsibilities to maximize outcomes in their program area or area of clinical expertise.
    4. Expert knowledge of a specialized area of clinical pharmacy practice or specialty area of
    pharmacy.
    5. Advanced skill in monitoring and assessing the outcome of drug therapies, including physical assessment and interpretation of laboratory and other diagnostic parameters.
    6. Relationships with patient, executive management, co-workers, other facility employees and the general public are consistently courteous, respectful, and cooperative in nature. Responds to the needs of the service in a courteous and timely manner.
    7. Demonstrates appropriate and proactive interpersonal skills to achieve the goals of the service. Acts as a team member and is always supportive of the group's efforts .
    8. Demonstrates an ability to work under a variety of circumstances to maximize group productivity and quality.
    9. Core functions include face-to-face and telephone encounters with referred patients, for comprehensive medication management.
    10. Functions as a mid-level provider to design, implement, and monitor therapeutic drug plans to achieve definite outcomes through direct interactions with patients and providers in assigned areas.
    11. Orders, performs, reviews, and analyzes appropriate laboratory tests and other diagnostic studies necessary to monitor and support the patient's drug therapy.
    12. Follows-up with patients on lab or test results to discuss the plan of therapy, i.e. changes in medication therapy, monitoring, and additional testing requirements.
    13. Clinical pharmacy specialists will determine if a referral to the physician is necessary when disease progression occurs, or adverse drug events require treatment interventions.
    14. Review patient medication regimens for clinical effectiveness, drug selection, dosing, contraindications, side effects, potential drug interactions, and therapeutic outcomes as required. Communicates findings with prescribers and provides appropriate alternatives
    to current treatment plans as needed.
    15. Obtains medication histories from patients and summarizes significant findings in the medical record and/or to the provider as appropriate.
    16. Monitor and report drug errors, adverse drug reactions, allergies, and patient compliance issues. Documents findings per facility procedures.
    17. Documents clinical interventions in CPRS in a timely and professional manner as appropriate.
    18. Participates in the training and in-servicing of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy students, pharmacy residents, and other medical center personnel as required.
    19. May serve as preceptor for pharmacy students and pharmacy residents in accordance with established policies.
    20. Assists in new employee orientation sessions as scheduled.
    21. Serves as an authority on drug usage, interactions, over-dosages, and compliance, to medical staff, nursing staff, technicians and students.
    22. Serves on medical center and/or VISN committees as requested.
    23. Manages information security within areas of responsibility to assure that computer system security and confidentiality of sensitive information is maintained, and that employee access to sensitive information is limited only to that which the employee requires to perform their duties.
    24. Provides first-line coordination and oversight for all MHCPS including staff work assignments, sick leave coverage, veteran and non-veteran customer services.
    25. Communicates and coordinates implementation of new procedures and general information via Microsoft Teams, Vista mailman, Outlook email, and SharePoint. Works closely with Associate Clinical Chief and Clinical Supervisors on implementation procedures, and coordinating information flow to all Mental Health staff and patients.
    26. Monitors and assists with first-line oversight of all MHCPS work-related activities and works with pharmacy managers to adjust staffing and personnel assignments based on workload needs within a framework that is conducive to good performance and high morale.
    27. Promotes a zero-tolerance environment when it comes to sexual harassment and
    hostile work environment issues.
    28. Assumes responsibility for organization and cleanliness of assigned areas and advises on
    space needs and requirements.
    29. Serves as a consultant or as a member on various committees as appropriate.
    30. Assists in the formulation of pharmacy policies and procedures and any hospital policies that involve medication management or pharmacy related programs.

    Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 8:00 A.M. - 4:30 P.M.
