The incumbent is a working leader who performs various duties, wherever needed, throughout the Textile Care Processing Facility (TCPF). Incumbent provides leadership and direction to all textile care employees (to include but not limited to machine operators, laundry workers, and linen distribution), CWT program participants, and clothing room employees to ensure established production and distribution requirements for VA Portland Health Care System.Learn more about this agency
ResponsibilitiesThe incumbent is responsible for the overall direction of production and distribution in the TCPF for the VA Portland Health Care System, ensuring quality and quantity of work performed meets established standards. Incumbent shifts available staff through work stations to meet the varying daily workload demands in production. Work assignments consist of soiled sorting, washing, drying, conditioning, rough dry folding, flatwork processing, uniform processing, patient personal processing, linen distribution, purchasing and inventorying, and the operation of all laundry machinery and equipment associated with the assigned tasks. The incumbent leads (5) WG- 7305-05 Laundry Machine Operators, (1) WG-3111-04 Sewing Machine Operator, (2) WG-6907- 04 Materials Handler/Linen Distribution, (2) WG-7305-03 Laundry Machine Operator, and (9) WG- 7304-02 Laundry Workers. Incumbent works as needed in various positions throughout the TCPF to fill in for staff shortages. Incumbent makes routine decisions, demonstrates proper techniques
and safe practices to TCPF staff, and answers staffs' questions regarding policies, procedures and machinery/equipment operation. Incumbent monitors work while in progress to ensure production needs are met and proper procedures, rules and regulations are being followed. Incumbent confers with the TCPF Supervisor/Manager daily to determine priorities and reports any TCPF discrepancies, malfunctions, shutdowns and concerns to the TCPF Supervisor/Manager. Incumbent assumes control of the TCPF in the absence of the Supervisor/Manager. Incumbent will be expected to travel to facilities within the VA Portland Health Care System to ensure standards of operation are being adhered to by TCPF employees located at Portland VA Facility and CBOC sites.
Incumbent must utilize desktop computer to review advanced reporting Textile Care Processing Equipment digital reports and management software. Incumbent will utilize desktop computer to manage uniform exchange system and conveyor software system. Incumbent will be responsible for ensuring correct operation of advanced textile processing equipment, uniform exchange system and conveyer system. Incumbent will be responsible for completing frontline trouble shooting and reporting work orders for unresolvable issues.
Incumbent will be responsible for ensuring high standards of customer service for internal and external customers. Incumbent will ensure that professional verbal and written communication is applied when responding to inquiries and concerns. Incumbent serves as EMS Textile Care Purchase Card Holder, responsible for ensuring adherence to all Facility, VA, and Federal procurement guidelines.
Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
