    Summary

    This position is located within the VA Portland Health Care System (VAPORHCS), Environmental Management Service (EMS) as part of the Textile Care Processing Facility (TCPF). The incumbent is responsible for ensuring accurate stock levels and customer service request are processed accurately for the Health Care System.

    Responsibilities

    Major duties include but is not limited to:
    • Receives, stores, issues, and sorts a wide variety of medical linens for all facilities within the VA
      Portland Health Care System and Interagency Agreement Facilities
    • Ensures accuracy of orders processed for Interagency Agreement Facilities, records weights and enters data into Linen Management database
    • Receives, identifies, validates, loads exchange carts and delivery carts with correct par levels of clean linen items
    • Compares quantity with baseline Par levels (as prescribed on Par level Memo) and information received from ward-masters (patient census, unusual situations, problems, etc.)
    • Monitors and adjust Par levels within Linen Management database to ensure optimal efficiency of inventory
    • Reviews for accuracy all daily requests for linen supplies. Prepares linen carts for distribution to various end users, using existing Par Tracker to ensure proper stock levels
    • Selects linens by type, size and quantity, and loads them into transport carts
    • Moves cart with new day's linen to ward area(s)
    • Coordinates with the Nursing Station Staff daily for hospital linen needs
    • Performs inventory of linen by counting quantities of items remaining on wards and clinics linen racks and adjusts daily linen order to replenish par level
    • Follows established standard operating procedures to wipe down carts prior to re-delivery
    • Notifies Laundry Supervisor or Laundry Manager, Environmental Services when operating level of linens is too low to meet demand, selects necessary quantities of linens from shelf stock and places into operating stock
    • Performs various duties in the Uniform Distribution room including issuing and receiving uniforms to hospital staff, inventory, stocking and records keeping
    • Participates in physical inventory of all hospital linens and may perform periodic "Spot Check" inventories as needed to track specific stock needs
    • Moves linen supplies via hand cart, dolly, Tractor or similar equipment delivering or picking up to or from wards, clinics, or the laundry
    • Maintains minimum of 5-day par for general linen, 7 day for essential PPE
    • Performs count of items in designated areas, completes inventory forms, reconciles discrepancies in accordance with established procedures
    • Maintains hand receipts for linen supplies delivered to clinics
    • Ensures that adequate supply of linen is issued to cover weekends and holidays
    • Coordinates shipping of salvaged or Fair Wear and Tear items back to the TCPF for tracking and accountability
    • Schedules semi-annual inventories of all hospital linen used in a patient care environment.
    • Assists the representatives from each linen using area in the identification and inventory requirements throughout the hospital
    • May be required to operate government owned vehicle for occasional travel to facility sites for delivery or pick up of textile/linens or uniforms
    • Performs linen counts as required during linen transfers to and from laundry
    • Completes trip ticket and performing normal vehicle operator maintenance
    • Perform all duties and responsibilities of a WG-2 Textile Care Worker and will accomplish such duties when deemed necessary by his/her immediate Supervisor
    • Ensures that records are maintained of linen sent to and returned from laundry, enters data into Linen Management database
    • Submits descriptive listing of all items (i.e. nomenclature, size, etc.) to supervisor
    • Reports linen shortages and damaged linen losses to supervisor
    • Submits requests for purchases of linens to supervisor
    • Responds to customer request for linen/textiles and uniforms ensuring completion of request is documented via email, SharePoint, or verbal communication to Supervisor or Work Leader

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
