This National Guard position is for a DEPUTY MISSION SUPPORT OFFICER TITLE 5, Position Description Number (PDT5806400) and is part of the AZ 162nd Wing, National Guard.

Responsibilities

This position serves as the Deputy Mission Support Group Commander for a self-contained, stand alone, separately licensed Air National Guard (ANG) aviation base. The purpose of this position is to serve as the full assistant to the Mission Support Group Commander. This position shares responsibility with the Mission Support Group Commander and assists in directing and managing all infrastructure operations of an aviation base that include civil engineering, crash/fire/rescue, disaster preparedness, environmental management, personnel, command, control, communications and computer systems (C4), logistics plans, programs and readiness, base supply, transportation, vehicle maintenance, contracting, security forces, medical support, base services, fuels management, aerial port operations (as assigned), and all other support base functions. This position assists the Mission Support Group Commander in directing and managing all Mission Support programs and operations in support of the total base, to include tenant organizations and assigned geographically separated units. Serviced personnel include Military Technicians, Active Guard/Reserve personnel, Traditional Guard members, Title 5 personnel, employees of tenant organizations, state employees, and contract personnel.

- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

- This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration.
- This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:
Experience, education or training in managing or directing, one or more programs, including appropriate supporting service organizations.
Supervisory, managerial, professional or technical work experience and/or training which has provided knowledge of management principles, practices, methods and techniques. Experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must have at least 36 months experience analyzing problems, identifying significant factors, gathering pertinent data and recognizing solutions; preparing reports, plans, policies and various correspondence; evaluating objectives and develop plans to facilitate the availability and effective utilization of various resources; Must have knowledge of the organization and its mission and utilized the organizational staff procedures. Experience applying analytical and evaluative techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations carried out by administrative or professional personnel, or substantive administrative support functions.

SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE:
Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.

Education

If you are using Education to qualify for this position, successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university.

How You Will Be Evaluated

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies (KSA: Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and other characteristics):

1. Ability to manage and direct numerous missions of the wing and other tenant organizations at an Air National Guard base.

2. Knowledge of management of programs such as supply, civil engineering/facility management, crash/fire/rescue, transportation, traffic management, base contracting, environmental management, disaster preparedness, military personnel, security forces, medical services, base services, and command, control, communications, and computer systems (C4) at an Air National Guard Base.

3. Ability to recommend the development of group training goals and long-range advanced planning.

4. Ability to work with support group commanders advising on policies and procedures affecting the ANG support workforce, support infrastructure, and regulatory guidance which affects support areas.

5. Ability to prepare briefs; make recommendations regarding optimal organizational structures; allocating and committing major support resources to wing, state, and national strategic plans.
