EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. In this position, you will be responsible for a comprehensive security risk program that encompasses information security policies, compliance and governance. Typical assignments include:
- Developing long-term security strategies and ensuring the agency meets all mandated security standards and requirements.
- Providing authoritative program related advice, information and guidance regarding current and future security information systems concepts, doctrine, opportunities, methods, practices, operations, and technologies.
- Coordinating, presenting, defending and negotiating security programs, projects, policies and controversial issues of significant impact on supported and potential FEMA information systems
- Considering security innovations and new approaches or applications and making recommendations as to the feasibility and compatibility with existing systems, facilities, equipment and their probable long-term effects and impacts.
