THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR TITLE 32, Position Description Number (PDD1445000) and is part of the AZ 162nd Wing, National Guard.
This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.
Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
Qualifications
Military Grades:
Must be in the military rank of E-8/SMSgt (immediately promotable to E-9 CMSgt) - E-9/CMSgt
Compatible Military Assignments:
Must possess Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC: 2W171
GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
This position is located at the 162d Wing, Tucson, Arizona. Its purpose is to supervise workers, either directly or through one or more subordinate leaders, in accomplishing the operations of a distinct organizational unit and to perform associated non-supervisory work. Plans weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations. Explains work requirements, methods, and procedures. Coordinates and directs the work of units supervised. Assigns and explains work requirements to subordinate supervisors and sets deadlines. Schedules and approves leave of subordinates Performs the non-supervisory work of the function as needed. Recommends promotion or reassignment of subordinate supervisors
and reviews personnel actions prepared by them. Implements safety regulatory requirements. Ensures that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. Performs other duties as assigned.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must possess at least 36 months of experience that demonstrates the ability to supervise, or the potential to perform such duties, as evidenced by the ability to communicate general supervisory concepts and shop processes. Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions and determining remedies where complex relationships exist. Experience using hand tools, measuring equipment and a variety of test equipment. Experience in interpreting technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams and manufacturer's specifications. Experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. Experience monitoring munitions loading personnel status and schedule training to prevent shortfalls. Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.
Note: This position is subject to rotating or night shift work.
Note: Individual must possess a 7 level due to nature of the job and inability to acquire upgrade training.
