    Summary

    The Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is USDA's chief scientific research agency. ARS Postdoctoral Research Associates are hired to supplement a lead scientist's research on agricultural problems affecting American agriculture. This position will expand development of an automated diagnostic tool for the onset of health and stress conditions in feeder pigs.

    This position is with the Genetics & Animal Breeding Research Unit, Clay Center NE.

    Responsibilities

    • Expand development of an automated diagnostic tool for the onset of health and stress conditions in feeder pigs.
    • Develop a machine learning model to identify short-term feeding behavior changes in individual pigs that will serve as a diagnostic tool for the onset of health and stress conditions.
    • Develop and program models, analysis of data, interpretation of the results, and preparation of the reports and manuscripts.
    • Present at scientific meetings and gatherings.
