Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level.
Physical Demands: The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of walking, standing, crouching, or UTV's over rough, uneven, or rocky terrain. Overnight camping is sometimes required. The incumbent must be physically fit for periods of rigorous activity while performing work assignments. Additional physical fitness requirements may be required based upon wildland fire qualifications.
Work Environment: The incumbent will have a wide variety of physical demands varying from office work which will involve 70% of their time to the remaining 30% of their time in the field. While in the field, the incumbent will be working in areas ranging from flat to extremely steep and in temperatures from below 0 to 100+ degrees. In some instances, considerable walking to reach the work site will be required. The work is performed outdoors in remote areas. The work involves regular and recurring exposure to moderate risks and discomfort (e.g., outdoor camping, and insect borne disease). Special safety precautions and specialized equipment are required. Incumbent will adhere to all safety rules and regulations as prescribed in manuals/supplements or by the designated Safety Officer.
