To qualify at the GS-11 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience includes the following:
- Familiar of Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) and configuration management systems
- Familiar with implementing Data Center Infrastructure Management and the specialized tools for support DCIM.
- Previously supported as a technician, a federal enterprise-level data center.
- Participated with limited leadership responsibility in Data Center Infrastructure.
- Knowledge of operating remote data center environments.
- Participated in the analysis of new and emerging data center technological, operating and other improvements to support continuous improvement in data center operations and management.
- Experience communicating with outside customers, stakeholders, sponsors and other IT service providers.
- Prior experience working in collaborative work teams in a matrixed environment.
- Experience writing documentation in support of data center operations
- Prior experience preparing and presenting project management briefs to senior leadership
- Knowledge of Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) requirements.
OR Applicants may substitute successful completion of 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education or Ph.D. or equivalent graduate degree (such as an LL.M, if related).
OR A combination of appropriate specialized experience (as described above) and graduate education (as described above) that is beyond the second year of progressive graduate study to meet the qualification requirements.

- Provided direct support in the analysis of new and emerging data center technological, operating and other improvements to support continuous improvement in data center operations and management.
- Previously worked with customers, stakeholders, sponsors and other IT service providers to elicit requirements, resources and prioritization.
- Prior experience working in and with collaborative work teams in a matrixed environment and integrated product teams.
- Experience writing documentation in support of data center operations
- Prior experience preparing and presenting project management briefs to senior leadership
- Knowledge and understanding of Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) requirements.
To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience may include the following:
- Knowledge of concepts, principles and practices of Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) and configuration management systems
- Knowledgeable of and experienced in implementing Data Center Infrastructure Management and the specialized tools for support DCIM.
- Previously supported as an engineer or manager, a federal enterprise-level data center.
- Experience leading the full life cycle of Data Center Infrastructure projects to include charter development, scope definition, WBS management and artifact management.
- Previously supported the operation of remote data center environments in a managerial capacity.
- Knowledge of and experience in conducting in-depth analysis of new and emerging data center technological, operating and other improvements to support continuous improvement in data center operations and management.
- Previously worked with customers, stakeholders, sponsors and other IT service providers to elicit requirements, resources and prioritization.
- Prior experience building collaborative work teams in a matrixed environment and leading integrated product teams.
- Experience writing documentation in support of data center operations
- Prior experience preparing and presenting project management briefs to senior leadership
- Knowledge of Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) requirements and ability to achieve and maintain COR certification sufficient to serve as a COR and technical specialist and a key source of information for assigned areas of responsibility
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement, you must also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
