    The candidate serves as the Deputy Regional Administrator of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) in Region 9 under the supervision of the Regional Administrator. The candidate carries out all the duties and responsibilities outlined in this position description.     Responsibilities

    As Deputy Regional Administrator, you will:

    • Administer the Federal transit program, which includes planning, environment, conservation, location, design, construction, maintenance and operating assistance, uniform land acquisition and relocation assistance programs; compliance with civil right program requirements; air quality assurances, ADA implementation and grants management.
    • Supervise regional administrative, planning, financial and oversight staff. Direct the management of regional resources, the establishment of policies and goals for management services and support, including training, budget formulation and administration, financial management audit and general administrative activities. Represent the interest of the Region 9 office in all administrative and personnel matters.
    • Under the supervision of the Regional Administrator, serves as a representative of FTA in the Region. Represent and speak for the Regional Administrator in the resolution of policy issues with Federal, state and local officials, representatives of the transit industry, technical associations, interest groups and the public. Keep the Regional Administrator informed on all matters of policy and significant developments in planning, grant management and oversight.
    • Write in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience AND Make clear and convincing oral presentations. Listen effectively; clarify information as needed.

    Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidates are senior level professional and has experience supervising, leading and/or managing a workforce that deals with large complex transportation projects with significant knowledge of the transportation industry. The candidates must have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to convey ideas and make recommendations to senior internal and external stakeholders. The candidates must have a strong work ethic and be resilient in high pressure and changing environments.
