This position is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority for Recent Graduates.

As an entry level engineer at the GS-5, GS-7 or GS-9 level you will participate in developmental assignments and training designed to extend your educational background and learn the requirements of the Corps' professional environment. As you progress through the program you will be assigned progressively more complex assignments supporting management of civil works construction projects.
Progression from the entry-level to the target level will depend on successful completion of all requirements for promotion. Promotions may be considered after a year at each grade level, but are not guaranteed to occur on a specific time schedule.
Examples of full performance positions:
Civil Engineer (Construction): Work may involve construction of levees, flood walls, box culverts, channel diversion structures, sanitary and storm sewers, pumping plants bridge construction, landscaping, and operations and maintenance of locks, dams and recreational facilities. Multi-million dollar contracts involving prime contractor, sub-contractor, suppliers, and cost-reimbursable contracts with railroads, highways, and utilities may be involved.
Civil Engineer (Office): Work involves administration of assigned civil works construction contracts. Investigating and composing modifications to contracts. Reviewing preliminary plans and specifications for proposed work. Composing and analyzing government estimates for modifications. Conducting negotiations with contractors in connection with administration of contracts.
