    This position is located in the Agricultural Research Service Field Organization, Plains Area/ETSARC, Cereal Crops Research Unit in Fargo, ND.

    The incumbent serves as Research Leader and Supervisory Research Plant Pathologist, Supervisory Research Geneticist, or Supervisory Research Chemist in the Cereal Crops Research Unit at the Edward T. Schafer Agricultural Research Center in Fargo, ND.

    • Directs all aspects of the Research Unit, including the research program, personnel, Unit facilities (in the ARS Biosciences Research Laboratory, ARS Northern Crop Science Laboratory, and on the campus of North Dakota State University).
    • Manages technology transfer, and fund accountability and distribution of approximately $4.3 million in federal base funds plus additional funds and other resources for the research program.
    • Advises leaders in the farming industry, milling/baking industries, and state and federal action/regulatory agencies on technical and practical matters related to development of cereal crop germplasm, quality, and diseases.
    • Conducts and leads research on pathogens, germplasm development, or grain quality of barley, wheat, and/or oats.
