What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position?
This is a term appointment not to exceed 13 months with possible extensions up to a total of 4 years without further competition. As an IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/APPSW) within the Office of the Associate Chief Information Officer, some of your specific duties will include:
-Provides Tier 1 (first-line) and 2 (operational) support for cloud services.
-Assists customers in resolving routine, recurring problems.
-Updates and maintains problem tracking/ticketing systems to track and identify customer needs.
-Assists with routine security scans on the cloud environment and makes preliminary reviews of findings.
-Assists in establishing development and production environments on request.
-Modifies scripts to automate components of the operation cloud environments.
-Assists in writing and maintaining technical service documentation and Standard Operating Procedures.
Key Requirements:
Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
For GS-07:
In addition to the competencies described above, applicants must meet one of the following to qualify for the GS-07 level:
**Possess one year of successfully completed graduate level education (18 semester hours, 27 quarter hours or the equivalent) in computer science, information science, information systems management, mathematics, statistics, operations research, or engineering, or course work that required the development or adaptation of computer programs and systems and provided knowledge equivalent to a major in the computer field.
**OR Possess Super Academic Achievement based on undergraduate study. (CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION ON SUPERIOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT)
**OR Possess one year of appropriate specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service that demonstrates performance of tasks such as: (1) Modifying scripts to automate components of the operation cloud environments; (2) Interviewing subject-matter personnel to get facts regarding work processes, and synthesizing the resulting data into charts showing information flow; (3) Operating computer consoles where this involved choosing from among various procedures in responding to machine commands or unscheduled halts; (4) Scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production efficiency; or (5) Preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where this involved summarizing the materials and organizing it in a logical fashion. For task examples 1-5, the level of work typically would have involved receiving clear, specific, and detailed instructions as to the methods, procedures, and guidelines to use.
