    As an Aviation Safety Analyst the position performs multiple, varying, and complex assignments. The position may act as a contributing Analyst on large work activities or as a project manager or team leader for large projects/programs/activities.

    Incumbent serves as the focal point for AIR Compliance and Enforcement activities. Applies an advanced knowledge of the technical aspects of the work directed and applies Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), as it relates to Aircraft Certification compliance and enforcement programs. Maintains and monitors productivity of AIR Compliance and Enforcement activities to ensure timeliness of casework processing and compliance with FAA regulations, orders, and policies. Interprets and applies complex legislation, regulations, and policy to predict potential issues and provide recommendations to AIR investigate personnel and leadership. Prepares and/or reviews comprehensive written reports on findings and identifies corrective actions required to resolve violations discovered. Presents all facts and gathers evidence to substantiate findings. Communicates effectively and accurately with various levels of internal and external stakeholders and AIR leadership on Compliance and Enforcement topics. Reviews legal actions to ensure violations cited are supported by appropriate and relevant evidence prior to transferring cases to AGC.

    Applies experience and expert knowledge to coordinate compliance and enforcement projects. Reviews and approves inspection findings and reports of investigation to ensure proper disposition of each case. Monitors the quality and consistency of the compliance and enforcement inspections and investigations reports. Reports to Division and AIR leadership anything that is noteworthy to include industry trends and compliance and enforcement issues, or other concern that may have an impact on the division and the agency.

    Performs multiple, varying, and complex assignments under the minimal direction of a branch/section manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional. Identifies and resolves challenging problems or issues that often cross organizational boundaries, and impacts the accomplishment of AVS/FAA strategic goals/business plan targets. Applies knowledge of FAA's goals to identify, define, and organize resources for large projects/programs/work activities. Requests and acquires resources to accomplish activities within established planning and budgetary schedules.

    Uses established policies and historical decisions to provide general guidance for addressing issues which require the development of new or improved safety approaches. Creates new solutions and policy interpretations as situations require. Provides guidance and instruction both internally and externally to address complex issues which often crosses multiple projects, programs, and/or functional areas. Develops and recommends approaches to address current and anticipated problems and issues. Works with management, Lead and/or more experienced professional to identify and resolve problems.

    Work is reviewed rarely, typically through status reports and at project completion, to ensure policy compliance and alignment with the requirements of projects and/or other work activities. Work activities typically impact directly on the objectives of one or more organizational units, major subdivisions, and/or LOB's/SO's and may affect the objectives of the FAA. The work often affects internal and external customers.

    Occasional travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis. The travel may be for training or other work-related duties.
