    EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.

    In this position, you will serve the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer, Installation and Infrastructure (I&I) Division, Responder Lodging & Disaster Leasing Branch performing disaster property management for buildings, structures, and facilities by assisting in the planning and execution of real estate transactions and property management activities. Typical assignments include: 

    • Providing effective and strategic management and oversight of real property assets throughout all stages of the asset life- cycle while ensuring compliance with General Services Administration (GSA) real estate footprint requirements.
    • Reviewing customer requirements, determining space requirements, establishing functional criteria, and monitoring build out.
    • Providing advice and guidance on technical problems or issues in areas such as acquisitions and condemnations.
    • Contributing to the development of regional policies, long-and short-range objectives, establishment of priorities, and development of activities in a specialty or program area.

    The ideal candidate has experience identifying properties to meet requirements, coordinating construction or renovation schedules, managing projects, and negotiating leases in accordance with GSA guidelines.

    Promotion Potential: Positions filled under Stafford Act regulations generally do not have documented promotion potential; however, dependent on an employee’s ability to perform higher level duties, the continuing need for an employee to perform work associated with a higher level position, and administrative recommendation and approval, promotions may be earned by CORE employees.
