This position is located in the Africa Division at the Voice of America in Washington, DC. The incumbent serves as an International Broadcaster for the Hausa Service, with responsibility for conceiving, planning, researching, writing, and broadcasting original audio/video scripts of a highly complex nature and for providing Internet content for websites.Learn more about this agency
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Writes news-related stories for use in radio, television, or Internet posting. Uses a variety of sources including area experts, daily newspapers, or magazines.
- Participates in the development of regularly scheduled radio or television programs. The incumbent initiates coverage of news and features in consultation with senior editors, participates fully in coverage of major events, and in preparation and execution of broadcast remotes.
- Initiates and conducts original interviews with a wide variety of subjects and news sources, some of whom may be suspicious and uncooperative. -Voices material for or during radio and/or television broadcasts.
- Contributes to production elements including editing of taped material, evaluation of stringer reports, and production of live air shows.
