This position is located in the Unit Control Room (UCR), Office of Protection Services (OPS) The employee monitors the operation of electronic integrated security computer, radio communication, voice recording, fire alarm, safety, and access control systems. - Assess closed circuit television (CCTV) based on alarm activation to assist in officer response. Monitors CCTV monitors for security or safety incidents.
- Dispatch security officer(s) to respond to fire and burglar alarms generated within a security management system.
- Employ security procedures and buildings, evaluates alarm activity to determine and communicate the location and, if possible, the nature of the security breach. Recognizes and responds immediately to emergency situations.
- Facilitate emergency response procedures within the security management system and make necessary notifications to responsible parties, both internal and external to the Smithsonian.
