The Office of Data and Statistics (ODS) in the Division of Research and Statistics (DRS) is led by the Chief Data Officer. ODS oversees agency-wide data governance, lifecycle data management, and the production of public and proprietary data and statistical products. The incumbent serves as the Branch Chief for the Statistical Products Branch and reports directly to the Chief Data Officer. The incumbent supports the Chief Data Officer by providing expert advice and leadership for the production and marketing of economic statistics, including research that supports the creation of economics statistics.
The incumbent is responsible for managing and leading the Statistical Products Branch's economic and statistical analyses research projects. The research projects require the application of economic and statistical analysis, theory, and concepts. Management and leadership of these research projects requires planning and evaluation to ensure the output is of the highest quality and that the research project align with management research priorities.
The incumbent is responsible for managing and leading the Statistical Products Branch's production efforts to create internal and external analytics and statistical products, including applying statistical techniques and methodology in creation of dashboards and similar tools. Such efforts include working directly with internal customers to understand needs.
The incumbent is responsible for managing and leading the Statistical Products Branch's marketing and outreach efforts to promote the use of statistical products for internal and external customers.
Directs, supervises, and mentors staff based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. Evaluates work performance of subordinates, and provides advice, counsels, or instructions to employees on both work and administrative matters. Exercises the full range of managerial and supervisory authorities, to include overseeing the overall planning, direction, and timely execution of the goals and objectives; participates in or administers internal restructures/realignments; and approving the allocation and distribution of funds. Interviews candidates for positions, recommend appointment, promotion, or reassignment to such positions.
Provides leadership and technical advice in the areas of general economic statistics use, operations, and developments. Serves as a key source of independent advice on key data governance, data and statistics operations (including production processes), and other data and statistics matters to enable high-quality analyses and research. Communicate issues, recommendations, solutions, and other critical information to leadership. Provides input to other groups on their statistical products and initiatives. Serves as a subject matter expert on multiple internal committees and working groups in the multiple stages of complex economic and statistical studies.
Develops office strategies, strategic plans, and work plans while determining the scope of work activities. Works closely with DRS leadership to identify key statistical products priorities and establish product development plans and project planning for the branch. Makes recommendations which affect current and long-range plans for FHFA's mission and initiatives.
Establishes and maintains professional contacts outside FHFA, and represent the agency at meetings with the Enterprises, other government bodies, industry representatives, academic researchers, and related professional organizations.
