This Budget Analyst position is located in the Chief Finance Office (CFO), Budget and Performance Division (BPD) Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Duties include but are not limited to:
- Aligning budget requests in major program areas with long and short-term strategic objectives performing both long-range and short-term budget planning.
- Reviewing and preparing detailed briefings, and financial reports on commitments, obligations, expenditures for assigned program office to resolve discrepancies between planned and actual obligations and expenditures as requested by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and Congressional committees.
- Providing guidance to offices on DHS, OMB and Congressional budget policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines using both experience and a comprehensive knowledge of budgeting concepts and principles.
- Drafting, editing, and reviewing new policies, procedures and approaches consistent with the overall TSA operating requirements and strategic objectives.
Typically, the lower Pay Band (Pay Band G/H) performs the same duties but will receive more guidance and training; and/or projects/work assignments may be less complex.
