    Summary

    This position is located in the Pacific West Area of the Agricultural Research Service (ARS), in Pullman, WA.

    The goal of the incumbent's research in the areas of crop and soil modeling is to develop and apply strategies that simulate crop growth and spatiotemporal energy and mass flows across the complex landscapes of the region.

    Responsibilities

    • Long-Term Agroecosystems Research (LTAR) team member contributing to development of sustainable crop and soil management systems for agricultural lands in the Inland Pacific Northwest and nationally.
    • Lead research program in the area of crop, soil, atmospheric modeling to simulate agricultural systems and assess trade-offs and synergies of ecosystem services.
    • Works in team settings to develop and use models for acquiring new knowledge, concepts, and information on crop production and ecosystem function to ensure a viable future agricultural industry.
    • Research efforts include the development or application of modeling strategies that are critical for sustained agricultural production, improved nutrient and water use efficiencies, and enhanced quality of resources under climate stresses.
