    Responsibilities

    • Administer the botany program for the Bakersfield Field Office area.
    • Prepare, evaluate, and conduct progressively more complex analysis of botanical and plant responses as the relate to land and water resource projects.
    • Complete botanical surveys and clearances to assist with the processing of permit applications to ensure compliance with appropriate federal law.
    • Implement the habitat improvement and restoration projects for the field office.
    • Monitors and surveys sensitive species and their habitats.
    • Document, evaluate, and report changes in habitat status.
    • Utilize GIS and GPS technology to complete plant surveys, identify impacts to Threatened and Endangered Species, and evaluate inventory and monitoring data to determine plant population trends and impacts.
    • Serves on an interdisciplinary team to address botanical and natural resources issues and problems.
    • Collaborate with supervisor and other specialists to write and review botanical input for environmental assessments, biological assessments, protective stipulations, and resource management plans.
