The Medical Director of Whole Health Services is a leadership position responsible for the management and strategic planning of the whole health program by providing operational oversight and assuming a leadership role in the development and continued growth of whole health services within VA Pittsburgh. The Medical Director will function as the primary advisor to the Chief of Staff and Medical Center Director on the Whole Health Program.
This position is responsible for the effective and efficient management of the Whole health programs and services within a 1 A complexity healthcare system by the development and execution of a Whole Health Business Plan for the medical center. Duties include oversight of the clinical and administrative aspects of whole health services, including budget and fiscal management, personnel management, recruiting and retaining staff, and assuring optimal utilization of available resources. Additional responsibilities consist of program development, strategic planning, advocacy for services, quality management, and collaboration with service line leaders at the medical center, Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) Leadership, and VA Central office. The Whole Health Medical Director is required to keep the whole health system team apprised of medical care advances and practice standards. The Medical Director plans and directs the educational and clinical experience of any potential medical students, residents, and fellows assigned to Whole Health Program. In addition, this position will be responsible for creating strategic partnerships with VHA program directors, service line chiefs, and community organizations in order to promote health and wellbeing.
The Whole Health Program includes conventional treatment, but also focuses on self-empowerment, self-healing, and self-care. VAPHS Whole Health Program collaborates with behavioral health, Pain clinic, MOVE weight management program, Pharmacy and Rehabilitation departments to provide complementary integrated personal approaches and health planning to Veterans in the tristate area of Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia, including Western Market facilities: Erie, Altoona, and Butler.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8-4:30, however, provider will be expected to work outside of TOD as needed.
