GENERAL EXPERIENCE: For positions for which individual occupational requirements do not specify otherwise, general experience is 3 years of progressively responsible experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least GS-4, that demonstrates the ability to:
- Analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions;
- Plan and organize work; and
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Such experience may have been gained in administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible work. Experience in substantive and relevant secretarial, clerical, or other responsible work may be qualifying as long as it provided evidence of the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) necessary to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Experience of a general clerical nature (typing, filing, routine procedural processing, maintaining records, or other nonspecialized tasks) is not creditable. Must have experiences, education, or training that demonstrates the ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, must have been 1 year at the GS-11 or equivalent of specialized experience. To qualify, must have experience in formulating and implementing the Wing's information protection functions and activities. Experienced in managing the program's plans, processes, and policies. Experiences include establishing and adjusting short and long term priorities. Competent in establishing metric and analysis systems to assess the program's efficiencies and effectiveness. Experiences include work that involved anticipating and planning for unexpected changes in system designs, equipment developments, or comparable aspects of various equivalent projects. Experienced in evaluating requirements for additional resources and balancing organizational needs with mission requirements and resource interests. Capable of identifying the program's needs and priority changes and experienced in executing those changes as required with full control and monitoring skills. Experiences included establishing review systems and procedures that ensured governmental information protection requirements were validated, enforced, monitored, and maintained. Skilled in economically operating the Information Protection program to identify areas, activities, and tasks that need revisions and improvements. Experienced in administrating guides and developed procedures that ensured the Wing's Information Protection Staff employees and Security specialists executed converged, multi-disciplined, and risk-based approaches to address assessments and self-disciplined reviews for Air Force supported and supporting missions and operations. Competent and very capable in presenting briefs to senior leaders on Information Protection program's business accomplishments, forecasted events, goals, objectives, and areas of concern. Competent and very capable to read and write reports concerning the program's business accomplishments, forecasted events, goals, objectives, and areas of concern. Competent in presenting facts, written or orally, to defend and/or applaud the Wing, Major Command, and Air Force programs' progress, priorities, interests, and discoveries. Experienced in establishing a resource program that provided comprehensive information to the Wing Commander, Major Commands, and Air Force to support and address program cycle input. Experiences include addressing questions concerning the allocation of resources and program work requirements that obtained necessary resources to affect Information Protection programs in the Wing. Competence levels ensured Information Protection program requirements were considered and included in new or revised operational, technical, or administrative Wing programs, facility structures, or equipment changes. Experiences included a wide-range of activities and responsibilities in monitoring and protecting Wing specific programs.
