    EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.

    In this position, you will serve as an Environmental and Historic Preservation (EHP) Specialist at a Public Assistance (PA) Consolidated Resource Center (CRC). You will provide environmental and historic preservation guidance, review grants to confirm all necessary documentation is provided, and ensure grants are compliant with environmental and historic preservation laws, regulations, and executive orders. Typical duties include: 

    • Providing environmental and historic preservation compliance technical assistance to teammates and partners.
    • Coordinating with environmental and historic preservation staff at Joint Field Offices (JFOs) and FEMA Regional Offices to ensure front-loading and identification of compliance issues.
    • Ensuring environmental and historic preservation compliance is understood and incorporated into grants developed at the Consolidated Resource Center.
    • Determining if grants require and are ready for environmental and historic preservation compliance review; identify additional documentation required to ensure environmental and historic preservation compliance.
    • Ensuring grants are compliant with environmental and historic preservation laws and executive orders, including but not limited to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Endangered Species Act (ESA), National Historic Preservation Act, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, and Executive Orders 11988 (Floodplains), 11990 (Wetlands), and 12898 (Environmental Justice).

    Promotion Potential: Positions filled under Stafford Act regulations generally do not have documented promotion potential; however, dependent on an employee’s ability                     to perform higher level duties, the continuing need for an employee to perform work associated with a higher level position, and administrative recommendation and approval, promotions may be earned by CORE employees.
