    Responsibilities

    Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Enterprise Services, Office of Information and Technology, located in Alexandria, VA.

    This position will be affected by a planned relocation to Ashburn, VA. Relocation is scheduled to begin in 2021, although the date is subject to change.

    Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office Information and Technology will allow you to use your expertise designing, documenting and developing software applications. This position starts at a salary of $121,316.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $157,709.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $157,709.00 (GS-14 Step 10).     In this Information Technology Specialist (Application Software) position, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals designing, documenting and developing software applications. Typical work assignments include:

    • Reviewing and approving technical requirements for application projects;
    • Overseeing the development, adaptation, and implementation of new applications development methods and models that incorporate new technologies;
    • Evaluation and recommending adoption of new methodologies based on favorable feasibility analyses;
    • Translating and interpreting departmental IT policies, standards and guidelines to agency-wide software design.
