    Summary

    Under the direction of the Secretary of Defense and the Under Secretary of Defense for policy (USD(P)), and pursuant to the National Defense Authorization Act for FY2014 section 932, this position serves the Principal Cyber Advisor (PCA) as a senior advisor to the Secretary of Defense for integration and oversight of the development of DoD Cyber Strategy's Lines of Efforts (LOEs) and the execution of Strategy Implementation across all Cyber functional areas and other activities.

    Responsibilities

    This position is a DoD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C. 1599f.

    This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system.

    If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment.

    This appointment does not confer eligibility to be non-competitively converted to an appointment in the competitive service.

    Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following:

    • Serves as a senior and technical expert, analyst and advisor to senior Agency leadership on a wide range of extremely complex issues relating to the execution and implementation policies, planning, theory, practices, and procedures governing cyber operations and cyber security.
    • Develops metrics to track progression of implementation of the DoD Cyber Strategy LOEs
    • Leads the strategic development and rapid enterprise integration of interoperable cyber capabilities and tools into the Department to defend DoD networks, systems, and information.
    • Develops, de-conflicts, and integrates innovative cyber infrastructures / architectures, capabilities, and tools to support the Joint Force, to include requirements definition, assessment, and integration.
