    Summary

    This position is located in the Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration (EDA), Office of External Affairs (OEAC), Public Affairs Division (PA), Washington, District of Columbia. The primary purpose of this position is for planning, developing and communicating EDA's communications and public affairs programs, policies and activities to internal and external customers, stakeholders, and the public.

    Responsibilities

    Serves as a Division liaison with the Office of the Secretary and Office of Public Affairs to provide information on agency activities through weekly reports and briefing papers, in order to fulfill Secretarial/Deputy Secretary meetings and events.

    Serves as an agency liaison for media and press relations. In this role, incumbent communicates extensively with National media to inform them of agency activities and explains and clarifies EDA's viewpoint on agency activities and issues.

    Writes and manages the dissemination of agency press releases; and liaisons with the Office of the Secretary, Office of Public Affairs to coordinate issues relating to agency press outreach and information dissemination.

    The incumbent also works closely with Congressional Press Secretaries and Chiefs of Staff to coordinate the inclusion of Congressional quotes in agency press releases.

    Works with organizational groups, business communities, editors of trade magazines, as well as press and other media outlets, to insure coverage and support of EDA objectives.

    Writes or monitors the writing of brochures, news releases, newsletters, booklets, et al, for dissemination as part of comprehensive information campaigns.

    Helps develop and implement EDA's social media program, utilizing Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, BitLy, and YouTube platforms.
