VA BHHCS MVPC/American Indian Activities Coordinator:
Serves as an expert in the areas of program analysis, evaluation, and assessment in Minority Veterans and American Indian Activities Programs and is responsible for conducting assessments for VA BHHCS relating to the needs of minority Veterans including evaluation of the manner and extent to which those needs are being met in the delivery of care. Incumbent develops, reviews and submits reports related to minority and American Indian Veterans.
EEO Manager:
Serves as coordinator of the local ADR program. Provides operational leadership of the program, maintaining a cadre of trained mediators, assigns work with mediators, tracks resolutions, completes reports, develops and coordinates training. Provides feedback to Workforce Development Council on the ADR program. Ensures the ADR process is utilized as an alternative to established formal procedures for disposition of grievances, discrimination complaints, complaints between supervisors and employees, EEO cases, MSPB cases, and ULP cases. Counsels, informs, interviews, researches, inquires, mediates, makes referrals to Employee Assistance Program or uses ADR to resolve often complex matters. Serves as the contact person for all counseling-related issues.
Provides guidance, education, coordination and review for the MVPC and American Indian Activities and programs, and oversees the completion and accuracy of all reports related to minority and American Indian Veterans.
Facilitates monthly state-wide, multi tribal meetings, providing training related to MVPC and American Indian Activities.
Serves as VA BHHCS MVPC and Native American Indian Activities Program Coordinator ensuring the facility Director is fully apprised of minority and American Indian Veterans concerns, perceptions and VA outreach efforts; identifies minority and American Indian Veteran populations in VA BHHCS catchment area, barriers to use of VA benefits, programs, services, assesses needs of minority and American Indian Veterans, and makes recommendations to the facility Director and/or Executive Leadership team for improvement of delivery of services. Represents VA BHHCS as subject matter expert in venues associated with Indian Health Service (IHS) and Tribal Health discussing provision of entitled benefits and services to American Indian Veterans.
Serves in a highly visible position raising the consciousness and awareness of the minority and American Indian Veterans within VA BHHCS facilities and surrounding minority communities. The incumbent works primarily with minority and American Indian communities, tribal councils, and other stakeholders within VA BHHCS service areas, coordinating facility outreach and developing/conducting executive conferences and visitations with tribal governments, tribal health boards, IHS, Veteran groups, congressional representatives, and other stakeholders.
Establishes and maintains a working liaison with minority Veteran organizations serving to increase community awareness of VA BHHCS patient care services available to Veterans.
Serves as the subject matter expert providing consultation and guidance to state and/or local agencies and organizations regarding the development, extension and improvement of educational programs, systems and services for minority and American Indian Veterans and develops a relationship with state and private Veteran organizations to broaden the scope of outreach.
Serves as a resource for the community by participating in events and programs and emphasizing community development, patient relations and other patient contact services and establishes working relationships with clinical staff in the Veteran communities and extends support to their efforts of treating our Veterans. Displays a broader commitment to the needs of Veterans not currently using our services by attending community forums, implementing Veteran conference projects, accessing Veteran outreach agencies and building close relations with Veteran affiliated agencies and organizations.
Coordinates educational programs/project activities such as meetings, conferences, satellite broadcasts, and information gathering for minority Veterans, minority agencies, and VA BHHCS staff and develops continuing education tools to improve communication to overcome cultural barriers and to increase awareness of the Veteran patient's perception of his/her Health Care System.
