Responsibilities
The primary purpose of this position is protect the nation from weapons of mass destruction, including chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) threats; the CWMD Office is established as a national office within the Department of Homeland Security.

As a Health Analyst GS 0601 14, your typical work assignments may include:
- Providing subject matter expertise for chemical defense and chemical health security issues.
- Providing technical expertise on local (community) level public safety, public health emergency preparedness and emergency management issues towards development of efforts which enhance resilience to chemical threats.
- Providing program management and project development support through all phases of the project management cycle, including financial management of budget and contracting operations.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENT: You must have successfully completed a full four-year course of study at an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree with a major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Note: You must submit a copy of your college transcripts (official or unofficial).

Additional Qualification Requirements: In addition to the Basic educational requirement, you qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience that is equivalent to the GS-13grade level in the Federal service to include:

- Experience managing projects at the local government level that directly interface with state and/or federal government, with emphasis on chemical and other hazardous materials defense response, policy and public health/medical preparedness planning.
- Experience as a public safety official / first responder at the local government level (fire, law enforcement and/or EMS), particularly in a major U.S. jurisdiction or municipality.
- Experience at the local government level conducting emergency preparedness efforts, planning and management of safety/security during high-threat/widely attended special events, public health emergency response, and/or hazardous materials response.
- Experience in emergency response disciplines such as: hazmat operations, general emergency medical services, personal protective equipment, epidemiology, human factors, medical countermeasures, environmental health, or hospital emergency management to mitigate or resolve disaster and emergency public health issues.
- Assisting in identifying medical mitigation recommendations to provide recommendations for emergency medical and public health-related issues.

Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level
