    This position is located in the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES). The employee serves as a member on project teams for SITES and participates in the acquisition, planning, design, production, and monitoring required for the operation of a large-scale program of traveling exhibitions.

    The incumbent is responsible for serving as a member of a exhibits department project team, in addition to:

    • Under supervision, monitors progress and approves some work at critical stages, including shaping of content editing, design and production, crating, and preparing condition reports.
    • Provides material to fulfill education strategies and exhibition learning objectives.
    • Participates in the writing, editing, and design processes of exhibition publications, explanatory labels, and other interpretive materials produced for exhibitions.
    • Participates with STIES' registrars to plan and execute strategies for the smooth operation of loans, insurance, shipping, and customs as needed.

    Travel Required

    Occasional travel - This position may require the incumbent to travel for various exhibitions.
