    Responsibilities

    The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is a twelve-bed unit, all private rooms, which provides care (24-hours a day) for adult and geriatric patients requiring nursing care on a concentrated and continuous basis or long term patients. Patient care focuses on direct patient care, education of the patient and the patient's family, and ensuring safety for the patients, visitors, and staff.

    Services provided by the PCU RN include:

    • antiarrhythmic drug administration,
    • post-cardiac Cath care
    • post-surgical care,
    • insulin drips,
    • telemetry monitoring.
    • Care of complex medical conditions, such as CHF, COPD, Renal, Endocrinology, and Cardiovascular.

    Required Competencies include:
    • Antiarrhythmic medications
    • Telemetry standards for medical-surgical unit
    • Groin Management
    • NIH Stroke Scale

    Work Schedule: various tours - to be determined by the supervisor
