    This position is located in the Facilities Management Systems Division (FMSD), Office of System Modernization, Office of the Chief Information Officer, Smithsonian Institution. The primary purpose of the position is to provide support to the system development, operation maintenance, and software programming activities in support of the facilities systems.

    • Provide guidance on software design, development, and configuration approaches and techniques to support specific projects.
    • Performs software development (including custom) and technical support for complex applications; supports the evaluation and implementation of COTS /In house software installations using web and mobile software development tools such as Crystal Reporting, JBoss/Wildfly, Hibernate, Eclipse, XML, SQL, Java, JavaScript, J2EE,UX, Google Polymer, Apache Cordova, Splunk, and HTML/5.  
    • Perform requirements management, software quality assurance, and software configuration management to design, develop, or modify business objects and states, GUIs/forms, portals, workflows, security, templates, specifications, and integrations to create new functionality or enhance existing functionality.
    • Provides DevOps support for the FMSD Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Microsoft Windows servers in both virtual and physical environments.
