As a Logistics Management Specialist, he/she uses skill applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to identify and resolve logistics and space management issues. He/she performs multiple, varying and complex assignments under the minimal direction of the Team Manager or more experienced professional. These activities are often vital to the success of larger projects and tasks for one or more business unit, organization and/or Line of Business (LOB).
As a contributing specialist, he/she applies experience and comprehensive knowledge of the principles of program and project management to perform a wide range of duties related to office space & workstation planning, design and consultation services for user space needs and logistics. He/she performs all aspects of space management services functions, including logistics support, telecommunications and information technology. He/she coordinates building management and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) workplace safety inspections. He/she works with the management and program analysts in obtaining analytical and evaluative data, necessary to standardize processes, streamline coordination and automate paperwork in assigned areas. He/she supports both new and existing programs in meeting established goals and objectives for Management Services.
He/she performs multiple and varying assignments under the limited direction of the team manager, project manager, or experienced senior professional. He/she applies experience and comprehensive knowledge of space and logistics management to plan and accomplish assignments. Typically, assignments will include, providing guidance to customers on orders, policies and procedures to ensure compliance; and recommending improvements to existing systems and processes. He/she uses experience with automated systems such as ARCHIBUS, KSN/Sharepoint, FAVES, FSTS, USBank, and PRISM to track and analyze data to ensure compliance with orders, policies and procedures.
Contacts are internal and external to AJG. He/she may act as a point of contact to provide advice and guidance on the applications of policies and procedures. May be called upon to communicate FAA positions on policies and procedures internally and externally, as related to logistical support and space management services to other Service Units and FAA lines of businesses. He/she serves as the local point of contract for all building management services, including Federal Aviation Administration Facilities Management and private vendors. He/she may act as Telecommunications and Information Technology Coordinator with responsibilities for the assignment and relocation of VoIP telephones and computers, as well as their local network connectivity. He/she may also act as the local point of contact for all building management services, including FAA Facilities Management and all other private service management vendors.
Although established policies and procedures provide guidance for most assignments, he/she uses considerable discretion to select the most appropriate approaches or to develop new approaches. Most issues are resolved without the assistance of more senior employees or the Team Manager. He/she develops and recommends approaches to address current and anticipated problems and issues. The Team Manager rarely reviews work, typically though status reports and at completion to ensure policy compliance and alignment with the requirements of projects and other work activities.
Candidates must have one year (52 weeks) of SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (FG/GS-12 or FV-H) that is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Specialized Experience at the next lower level (FV-H) is defined as:
Education cannot be substituted for experience at the FV-I level.
