    This Information Technology (IT) Specialist (INFOSEC) is located in the Information Assurance and Cybersecurity Division (IAD), Cybersecurity Awareness and Operational Support Branch, Information Technology (IT), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

    The major duties described below reflect the full performance level of this position. Typically, the lower pay band (H Band) performs the same duties but will receive more guidance and training; and/or projects/work assignments may be less complex.

    As an IT Specialist (INFOSEC), SV-2210- I, your typical work assignments may include: 

    • Providing technical guidance and support of in data processing, communications, electronic imaging, and office automation related to acquisitions and contract management.

    • Identifying and defining business or technical requirements applied to the design, development, implementation, management, and support of systems and networks.

    • Managing multiple IT projects; establishing workload priorities between procurement actions, reporting requirements and budget planning.

    • Interpreting or developing technical and functional requirements to promote an improved and more efficient acquisitions process.

    • Recommending changes in contract terms and conducting contract management activities (i.e., reviewing procurement requests, monitoring and evaluating contractor performance, reviewing contractor invoices, recommending corrective actions, and inspecting and accepting contract deliverables).

    • Supporting internal and external data calls and meeting related deadlines.

    • Maintaining spreadsheets for tracking acquisitions, budget spending, and contract administration.

    • Reviewing documentation related to the implementation of security programs and technologies; and reviewing proposed new systems, networks, and software designs for potential security and contractual risks.

    • Promoting awareness of security issues amongst managements and ensuring sound security principles reflected the organization’s visions and goals.

    • Proposing preventive actions and methods for ensuring TSA policies and practices align with emerging changes to the information assurance and cybersecurity landscape.
