    This position is located in the Texarkana Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) of the Mental Health Service at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport, LA.

    Responsibilities

    The duties of the Senior Social Worker in Outpatient Texarkana Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC)of the Mental Health Service include but are not limited to:

    • Provides clinical senior psychotherapy services to the Veteran population enrolled in a CBOC team aimed at recovery. Encumbent provides independent, expert clinical psychosocial and case management services in a specialized area of practice.
    • Participates in the professional development of colleagues through mentorship and teaching;
    • Develop an assessment of the veteran in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team, the veteran, family members and significant others.
    • Intensive psychotherapy requiring the exercise of mature professional judgment and the flexible use of a wide range of complex discipline.
    • Provides consultation to colleagues, renders professional opinions based on experience and expertise, and incorporates complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment.
    • Utilizes outcome evaluations to further treatment and designs system changes based on empirical findings.
    • Develops and collaborates with treatment plans for assigned cases and implements treatment plan while providing guidance, emotional support, counseling, individual/group psychotherapy services.
    • Performs independent practice, expands clinical knowledge in the profession, provides consultation and guidance to colleagues, models effective practice skills, teaches or provides orientation to less experienced
    • Evaluation and assessment of clinical need, diagnosis and treatment for those Veterans in the CBOC population in need of clinical psychotherapy intervention aimed at recovery.
    • Independently implement effective individual and group treatment modalities for Veterans and their families, and to measure outcomes to these interventions.
    • Develops working relationships and agreements with other organizations and community groups having similar service relationships with the same patient population as the patient.
    • Collaborates with other members of the CBOC Team or other interdisciplinary treatment teams as appropriate.
    • Serves as Mental Health Treatment Coordinator for most assigned cases involving senior psychotherapy intervention.
    • Provides clinical case management, clinical treatment, advocacy, and coordination of referrals to other appropriate internal or external service providers /agencies as needed by the Veterans in the CBOC population.
    • Serves as mentor to other Social Workers, particularly those at the entry level, and students. Maintains availability to provide clinical supervision to such individuals as organizational needs indicate.
    • Additional duties as assigned.
    Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Subject to change based on agency needs.
