    EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.

    In this position, you will serve as a Supervisory Emergency Management Specialist (Preparedness). Typical assignments include:

    • Performing supervisory oversight of regional preparedness staff in accordance with agency policies and best practices in order to maximize effort and positive results.
    • Leading development and execution of strategic/operational planning and program budget in order to support activities.
    • Managing a team of emergency management professionals in the execution of programmatic activities in accordance with statutory requirements and existing policies.
    • Leading outreach and project development efforts in order to advance preparedness initiatives across the whole community.
    • Serving as a spokesperson at conferences, meetings, committees, and working groups to promote and maintain a proactive preparedness posture across the whole community.
