    EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.

    The ideal candidate will have experience as a network System Administrator and Firewall Administrator to include the administration of routers and switches, Firewalls, Virtual Private Networks (VPN), and Wide Area Networks (WAN). Experience with Cisco, Palo Alto is desired and a Security+, CND, and/or CySa+ (or Level III) is also preferred.

    In this position, you will perform systems security administration duties that require installation, operations, maintenance, monitoring, administration and other service-type duties. Typical assignments include:

    • Installing, operating, and maintaining vulnerability management tools including firewalls, network appliances, and host intrusion prevention systems
    • Monitoring and investigating security related incidents that effect all FEMA systems using data from network switches, firewalls, and routers
    • Creating documentation on processes used to secure and maintain the FEMA Enterprise Network
