    The Iowa City VA Health Care System (ICVAHCS) is currently recruiting for one (1) Full-Time Assistant Nurse Manager for our Intensive Care Unit (ICU). ICVAHCS is in Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 23. The Assistant Nurse Manager Registered Nurse falls under the clinical pathway, as a supervisory nurse, and reports to the Nurse Manager, Patient Care Services.

    The RN- Assistant Nurse Manager upholds recovery-oriented care, performs motivational interviewing and provides therapeutic communication. Maintains knowledge of assessment and implementation of care delivered to patients with various psychiatric diagnosis. The RN- Assistant Nurse Manager is vigilant in maintaining a warm, healing, safe environment that fosters staff to perform to their full individual potential. The RN- Assistant Nurse Manager assumes the duties of the Nurse Manager in their absence. Care is provided to patients with the goal of achieving quality patient care by improving clinical outcomes, increasing continuity of care and minimizing health care costs.

    • Clinical leadership
    • Staffing Coordination

    • Administrative Actions
    • Support of the Patient Care Service Line
    The RN- Assistant Nurse Manager functions within a nursing process framework for problem-solving and care facilitation: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Job duties are focused on achieving optimum mental and physical health and illness prevention. The RN- Assistant Nurse Manager is a registered professional nurse who is accountable to the Nurse Manager and demonstrates a high level of clinical expertise, leadership, and creative approaches to management of complex care.

    Work Schedule: Flexible shift and hours/Rotating tours while maintaining accessibility as needed for operational needs of the unit.
