    Summary

    The Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), defines and manages cybersecurity related programs and/or projects to include strategic direction for cybersecurity program initiatives and activities, Security Operations Center (SOC) personnel, infrastructure, policy enforcement, emergency planning, IT and/or cybersecurity awareness, and/or other resources. Designs, develops, integrates, and updates system security measures (including policies and requirements).

    Responsibilities

    As an Information Technology (Chief Information Security Officer) at the GS-2210-14, some of your typical work assignments may include:

    • Supervisory responsibilities.
    • Knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies.
    • Knowledge of risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk.
    • Knowledge of current industry methods for evaluating, implementing, and disseminating information technology (IT) security assessment, monitoring, detection, and remediation tools and procedures utilizing standards-based concepts and capabilities.
    • Advises on the implementation of higher-level security requirements such as those resulting from laws, regulations, or Presidential directives in consultation and coordination with the CIO, NETADMIN, SYSADMIN, and DEVOPS.
    • Responsible for cybersecurity program/project resources, allocation plans, workforce development plans, budget forecasts, initiatives, and policies with the Information Security Development.
    • Coordinates for the integration of security programs across disciplines, defines the scope and level of detail for security plans and policies; applicable to the security program.
