The primary purpose of this position is to apply advanced vascular access knowledge and skills in the caring of patients requiring intravenous (IV) access and Infusion Therapy. The RN will provide Vascular Access Device selection (PICC, Midline, CVC placement, difficult PIV, phlebotomy and intraosseous) and insertions in a variety of settings, including; inpatient, emergency department, infusion center, outpatient clinic on site, pre-op areas and radiology.

The RN will be proficient in performing best practice/evidence-based interventions to include collaboration with clinical staff, inserting, discontinuing, troubleshooting vascular access devices, de-clot interventions, teaching and mentoring staff, and monitoring quality metrics related to these devices.
Inserting peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC), central venous catheters (CVC), peripheral intravenous catheters (PIV), midline catheters, venipuncture for phlebotomy with ultrasound guidance. Port access and de-access.
Sterile dressing changes to all vascular access devices. De-clotting procedure knowledge.
Rounding and assessing on all specialty vascular access devices. Identifying, treating and reporting line complications. Keeping up to date on latest recommendations for best practice.
Maintaining and reporting central line day data.
Teaching vascular access recognition, care and maintenance, discontinuation, troubleshooting and complication resolution to nurses and physicians.
Performs ongoing assessments, noting changes in condition, and provides appropriate interventions.
Performs emergent care in acute/crisis situations.
Demonstrates fiscal responsibility of supplies and equipment.
