    This position is located in the Visa Services Directorate, Office of Field Operations (CA/VO/F). The Field Operations supports and monitors visa operations at Foreign Service s posts around the world and manages CA/VO's public outreach on visa issues. VO/F consists of three divisions: the Education and Tourism Division (CA/VO/F/ET), the Immigration and Employment Division (CA/VO/IE), and the Outreach and Inquiries Division (CA/VO/F/OI).

    • Provides expert analysis, advice and guidance to consular officers on country specific or border policy and procedural issues relating to the U.S. visa program overseas.
    • Coordinates and/or chairs visa related working groups on behalf of Consular Affairs.
    • Researches policy related complex visa issues in order to prepare and present comprehensive policy opinions that address all issues and include appropriate clearances.
    • Identifies and represents Bureau and Department of State interests, formulates policies and procedures, develops implementation strategies, and communicates guidance and instructions to consular posts.
