    The Community Living Center Registered Nurse is a professional registered nurse (RN) qualified by education and experience to provide professional nursing care to acute and chronically ill Veterans.

    The CLC Registered Nurse is responsible for the direct resident care delivered in the CLC in the roles of: direct resident care, medication nurse, admit/discharge nurse, treatment nurse, charge nurse, Resident Assessment Coordinator (RAC), Veteran Case Manager (VCM), or Restorative nurse.

    Duties include but not limited to:
    Set priorities
    Organize and plan the work to meet deadlines
    Resolve routine problems
    Independently perform work in accordance with unit standards, procedures and accepted practices.
    Collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to identify veterans who are appropriate for admission to the CLC
    Submit screening worksheet to screening team daily (M-F).
    Coordinate with inpatient departments and VIRS for admission to CLC.
    Review electronic and hard copy veteran heath information to determine eligibility for admission to the CLC.
    Assist with admission and discharge of residents as needed.
    Conduct veteran and employee training and other duties as assigned by the nurse manager to provide quality care to residents.
    Work with the facility wound team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the impact of Quality Assurance, Infection Control, etc., with regard to the care of the resident with wound and ostomy needs
    Conduct wound and dressing changes and reviews need for supplies.
    Assist facility wound nurse with teaching and support of residents with new stomas, and for the evaluation of pressure relief mattresses and/or related equipment for residents in the CLC.
    Analyze wound, ostomy and SCI nursing treatment modalities systematically through data collection, interpretation, and reporting of findings with appropriate recommendations.
    Conduct other duties as assigned by the nurse manager to provide quality care to residents.
    Make daily resident assignments by providing general instructions, expected deadlines, and the quality and quantity of work expected depending on each resident's needs and progress.
    Conduct admissions and discharges.

    Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases.
    Paid Time Off: Annual leave at the rate of eight (8) hours per biweekly pay period; Sick leave at the rate of four (4) hours per biweekly pay period; 10 paid Federal holidays per year.
    Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years' vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA.
    Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement).
    Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory.

    Work Schedule: Variable 12 hours shifts, days or nights. 7:00 am - 7:30 pm or 7:00 pm to 7:30 am. Includes weekends and holidays.
